1. Visa Refusal
Students will be entitled to a full refund of their deposit in the unlikely and unfortunate event that your student Visa has been refused. The copy of your passport indicating the refusal stamp and your refusal letter should b sent to the admissions office to enable us to begin the refund process. It is also required that you return all original documents sent by us. On the other hand, students can differ the place of the College until the next session, however if you wish you can exercise your right of appeal against the refusal decision or re apply for the visa.
2. Students Residence
We have a list of host families in our area that provide student accommodation. Additionally, some of our students live in privately rented rooms in a house shared by their classmates.
3. Which Country are the students from?
Most of our students are from South Asia but our admission strategy is to include students from the African contentment and the Middle East.
4. Whilst I study can I work?
In the UK students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week, plus full time in the holidays. The College authorities are happy to help you in this regard.
5. Assistance in Bank Account
On arrival after completion of admission formalities, if required students will be provided by a letter from the College, confirming you are a student along with your present UK address. You are required to take your passport along with you as well when you wish to open a bank account.
6. Assistance in English language
English Language Support classes are available.
7. UK Degree Certificate
Every semester you will have to sit for exams phase by phase. On successful completion of your course, you will receive the UK University Degree Certificate.
8. About London
There is something for everyone in the very large diverse City of London. There are many historical museums, Art galleries, theatres, markets, shopping etc. Additionally there are various types of restaurants and parks. We are located at the East End of London. Life in London can be very daunting and usually people don't make eye contact or greet strangers because there are busy. However London has strong communities spirit in some areas and it is easy to make friends with fellow international students. If you wish to remain anonymous London is ideal but you will enjoy freedom. London will also expose you to the global village scenario and you will expose yourself to people all over the world. Generally the weather in the UK is unpredictable and can vary in a short spam of time. Being in the UK which is in Europe the temperature is cooler and can be quite cold in the winter.
9. Basic needs
It is advisable to be prepared for the colder weather and students should bring sweaters, jumpers, jackets, scarves, hats, gloves and an umbrella. Other things like toiletries, bedding and be bought very cheaply. A supply of passport photographs is useful and when you come you must bring other essential documents, such as College letters, medical details, contact details (emergency) or any medication that you may require.
10. Study periods
You may require studying 7 days a week and normally 18-20 hours contract time per week in order to achieve success in your area of chosen subject you need to study privately in your own time in addition to coursework. Fewer than 80% attendance in class is not acceptable.
11. Accreditation on the UKBA register
ECMIT College is registered on the Department UKBA register of Education and Training Providers. We have also receive the ASIC.
12. Events and Societies at the College
The College has a number of societies which holds regular meetings, organize festival related celebrations and host external guests. Other social events are also planned each semester inclusive of visits, trips within the UK. Parties, for example and annual picnic and the cultural evening with our students are quite popular.
